Last night I presented a talk on Sports Conditioning to the Athletic Department and entire Coaching Staff of a local College. I loved it, and it was very well received!



The Climb

I love song lyrics, and these seem particularly pertinent to the essence of this blog. Here’s a portion of the lyrics from “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.
“There’s always gonna be another mountain, I’m always gonna wanna make it move, Always gonna be a uphill battle, Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose; Ain’t about how fast I get there, Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side, It’s the Climb.”

Ok, perhaps not the best English (smile), but oh so true. Whether you’re training, practicing, or playing ALWAYS try to enjoy the climb! And when you win, OR lose, always remember “there’s always gonna be another mountain…”

The “Secret” to Weight Loss

One of the big secrets to weight loss is that there are few, if any, real secrets! Take in fewer calories than you use; move your body (read: appropriate aerobic exercise which not only helps you to burn calories, but also helps your heart, and safe resistance training which helps you increase your lean, calorie-burning tissue). For most people, if they follow these ‘common-sense’ SECRETS, and do it consistently (not on a “crash-diet” basis) this will bode them well. There’s your secret, now go out and tell everybody!
